I’m building this for a former coworker who does YouTube videos and edits them using iMovie/FCP and doesn’t want to spend much money and wants more performance than his 2009 dual core MacBook Pro. In fact I replaced the video engine in the 12.7.1 package with the one from 12.4. Mine worked fine with 12.4 and 10.11.6, 12.7.1 was unusable. The fact that it works with 12.7.1 and Yosemite is a coincidence. This Mac runs perfectly fine but I had nothing but problems with the video engine.
Can I purchase an Apple firmware Radeon 5770 from a higher model Mac Pro and use it on the 1,1 with the modified EFI boot loaders for 10.11 to install and run the OS?
